Lazy day at Earth Lodge. Liza sunbathing .
Me I picked up and read Daniel Sekulich’s book “Ocean Titans – Journeys in search of the soul of a Ship”, 242 pages.
Good read, follows the life cycle of a ship, birth to death. My take - The Ship symbolic of human aspirations, deeds and experience.
Working/functioning it exudes life, idle it is a shell.
Particularly good were the sections on the Hyundai shipyards and the discussions with the Polish captain. Breakfast from 8 to 3PM eggs over hard, beans, toast, coffee. Lunch Veggie stew, big garden salad, grape soda.
Dinner with the Germans and 3 young English on a 3 week holiday.
Girls liked Egypt 'cept for dirt poverty and Muslim attitudes towards women.
One lady was entering the field of needle exchange where she works dispensing needle to addicts.
Meth not a big problem there…but a horse tranquilizer is (Ketamine).
Veggie dinner again, mashed potatoes and gravy, veggie pie with a thick white crust, salad with strong garlic beet dressing.
The veggies down here are the best despite an article talking about parasitical contamination of lettuce and strawberries that can not be washed off. Chris from New York comes down for Feb & March each year.
Stays with Spanish speaking family for $7 per day. Canadians Jeffrey (blond dreadlocks) and Salina (redhead)working for room(tent space) and board, young and carefree and ditzy, try to be helpful and sometimes they succeed.. East Germans, Günter & Christine, have traveled all over for months at a time, 53 & back packing, healthy.
